Rejected

By Christopher Rupley

See them fall

one by one,

helplessly they crumble

under the heat of

a beating,

ruthless sun

Hear them cry out,

desperately they plea,

with their libations to God,

their very lives in his hands

Together they stand,

they’ve poured themselves

out,

into each other

and down for the count

Cringing and failing,

they smell most

foul,

naked and afraid,

they’ve become stains

on the ground…

  1. Thanks, Ben. Lately, I feel like I’ve been in a lul with my poetry. I want to write more, but feel as if I need more inspiration. I need to go on a photo hunt, or a trip, or read a good story…we shall see
