Small Talk (Revisited)

We come suited in
skin, and sure wear
it thin

There’s wisdom in
the time we spend,
and in the words
we cannot speak,

but in the time we
spend alone
we slip farther
from our homes,

while bubble-baths
and sidewalk chalk
remind us of
when we used to talk
for hours…
