Orthodox Ambiguity

It is socially
cruel when probity lends
itself to exile
while delusory egos
seem to run rampant
in streets combed for their jewels,

and all the while false
gods sit in ivory chairs
stroking alabaster beards

(This is one of several beautiful Eastern forms of poetry called Waka. This particular form is named Choka, and the syllable count is (5-7-5-7-5-7…5-7-7).
