Broken Diamonds

Propensities keen on love can
scrape your wormwood soul off dirt roads,
or peel apart atmospheric skin
with shards of caustic glass,

but don’t let slip from your
threadbare mind that anything worth
breaking is unequivocally stronger
when mended with doses of
love’s rich medicine.

A half-eaten heart
is more desirable than
an unsullied soul

(A haibun is a short prose poem followed by a haiku. Broken diamonds are STILL diamonds).
