Cicle Cell Anemia

Isn’t it funny
how we tip-toe around our
feelings’ icy floors
wearing thin-skinned skates, and none
but the pads over our eyes…

(This is a Tanka, and it stems from a group of Eastern forms of poetry called Waka. The syllable count is  5-7-5-7-7. Seeing as how the suffix “cicle” gives closure to the word icicle, I took a liberty when tilting this piece. Deal with it…)
